Urbanisation of Cathedral Green?
Exeter’s famous old cathedral has always had an extensive Cathedral Green where people sit out in fine weather, enjoy a packed lunch or just chat with friends.
At present a complete refurbishment is underway, with new, wider pathways and other intrusions on the grass.
However, the scale of the work is causing some consternation among regular users. Is the Green being subtly urbanised? Is the wish for a tidier entrance to the cathedral reducing its character as a vital green space at the heart of Exeter?
