Exeter Chiefs triumph in Premiership
It was their first game in the rugby Premiership. Their opponents were the formidable Gloucester, a team with 14 internationals, six in the back row. Sceptics feared the worst.
However, the Sandy Park crowd of nearly 10,000, was treated to a scorching performance by the newbies. The Chiefs lived up to their name by dominating whole areas of play, especially the kicking department, where Gareth Steenson slotted them all.
The final score was Exeter Chiefs 22, Gloucester 10.
A day to remember for the club and its many supporters.
