Exmouth water mains burst

Three water mains in Exmouth have burst affecting 150 properties.

South West Water (SWW) say that the pipes are on Pound Lane and Featherbed Lane, which are connected mains.

The BBC is reporting that initially 2,000 homes were affected but that number fell to 150 after SWW re-routed the supply.

SWW say it hopes the problem will be resolved by midday. A water bowser has been placed on Scott Drive for people to collect water if needed.

Becky Moran from SWW is reported as saying, “We’ve got staff on site and so far we’ve managed to re-route the vast majority of the water supply so we’re down to 150 properties which have a reduced water supply. They’re now in the process of being fixed.”

The water company said the cause of the burst was not known, but that its current emphasis was on fixing the problem.
