Scone wars?

Love scones? Yep. With lashings of clotted cream? Yep. Strawberry jam? Umm, yummy. Put them together and what have you got – the perfect cream team.

But here in the South West the eating of cream tea is fraught with controversy – mention scones and heated discussions are sure to follow. (Raisins in scones?… don’t even go there!). A Cornishman will tell you the right and proper way to construct your scone is jam first then cream on top… which to a Devonian is sacrilege; they would argue it’s cream first THEN jam.

Which one is correct? Who knows? What we do know is we are ever-so slightly partial to a cream tea – and our office is already arguing over the right way to eat one.
