Exeter to be unitary council
The Government has announced today that Exeter is to be a unitary council.
This is a surprising development as the same proposal was turned down in 2007. It seems the recession has changed the terms of the bid.
Exeter believes it can deliver better public services at a cheaper cost to taxpayers.
Devon County Council is set to appeal against the decision.
