Look great, travel light on holiday

If you’re jetting off to hotter temperatures for a week or two of sun and relaxation, the last thing you want to do is cart around heavy cases full of beauty products. The key to stress free holidaying is to travel light, so here’s some tips on how to manage and minimise your beauty and skincare bag.
Remember that there is a restriction on the amount of liquids and gels you can carry in your hand luggage. Beauty products will probably need to be carried inside the baggage you check in, so you’ll need to store them in a sturdy, leak-proof container. On a recent journey abroad, I carried all my beauty products within a large plastic lunch box, which had a secure lid and fitted nicely inside my suitcase.
Travel sizes look cute, but they are often costly and your favourite products aren’t always available, so it’s wise to invest in a set of empty travel sized bottles so that you can enjoy your regular lotions and potions during your break.
Pack economically by choosing day-to-night make-up items for your holiday. For example, a glitter top coat will transform day-time nails into night-time talons, and a sparkly lip gloss will transform matt lip colour into something special. Remember that gloopy mascaras, heavy foundations and thick eye pencils will turn to mush in the heat, so simply pack a bronzing powder and two or three versatile eye shadow colours, and plan to separate lashes with a lash comb.
Multi-purpose products will also save space. A good, aqueous cream will moisturise any area of the body. Petroleum jelly has a myriad of uses and baby oil can also be a God-send. Be aware that you can usually buy basics such as toothpaste, mouthwash, disposable razors and cotton wool when you reach your destination, so if you’re stuck for space only pack the essentials that you’re sure you can’t get hold of when you arrive.
